A Real Choice: Texas Values, not Pete Sessions' Record of Extremism
I want work together to end partisan extremism from Washington. We can clean up Washington if we have representatives who stand up for America first, and stand against petty politics and Special Interest extremism.
Texas Values honors our veterans, supports clean and transparent government, fights for honest markets, seeks to expand education opportunities, and wants to reward hard work.
Unfortunately, too frequently Pete Sessions forsakes Texas Values for extremism. For example despite bipartisan approval, for each of the following bills, Pete was one a handful of GOP Extremists who voted against our veterans, our police, our prosecutors, our education and our environment via the following bills:
- Supporting our Veterans I: Pete voted against the GI Bill to give our returning veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan free college tuition like those returning from World War II received. (HR 2642692, Congressional Record Vote 330, passed 256-166);
- Supporting our Veterans II: Pete voted against the Melancon Amendment that would have provided $53 million dollars for new prosthetic arms and legs for for returning injured veterans. (HR 2528, Congressional Record Vote 224, Amendment lost 213-214);
- Supporting our Veterans III: Pete was one of only 4 representatives to vote against a bill to allow federal offices to fly their flag at half-staff when a local veteran has died in service to our nation. (HR 692, Congressional Record Vote 346, bill passed 408-4);
- Supporting our Seniors and Their Doctors: Pete was one of only 59 representatives to vote against HR 6331 - a bill to fix upcoming decreases in Medicare funding that would have lowered payments to Medicare physicians by 10%, effectively forcing many doctors to drop their Medicare patients. (H.R. 6331; Roll Call Vote 443, Bill passed -355-59);
- Lobbying Reform: Pete was one of only 37 Representatives to vote against the Lobbying Transparency Act, a reform bill to require the reporting of bundled donations by Lobbyists. (HR 2317, Congressional Record Vote 420, bill passed 382-37);
- Clean Government: Pete was one of only 73 Representatives to vote against the Accountability in Contracting Act, a bill to reform federal contracting standards. (HR 1362, Congressional Record Vote 156, bill passed 347-73);
- Supporting Our Police: Pete was one of only 34 Representatives to vote against the “Cops Improvement Act” amending the Safe Streets Act to assist local police departments in putting more cops on the street (HR 1700, Congressional Record Vote 348, bill passed 381-34) ;
- Supporting our Prosecutors: Pete was one of only 73 Representatives to vote against the Justice Prosecutors and Defendants Incentive Act, a bill that would allow new lawyers to take lower paying federal jobs by paying off their law school loans. (HR 916, Congressional Record Vote 347, bill passed 341-73);
- Supporting Education Opportunities: Pete was one of only 71 Representatives to vote against the College Student Relief Act, a bill to reduce interest rates on federally funded college and professional school loans. (HR 5, Congressional Record Vote 32, bill passed 356-71);
- Preventing Internet Identity Theft: Pete was one of only 48 Representatives to vote against the Securely Protect Yourself Against Cyber Trespass Act, a bill to stop Internet ID theft. (HR 916, Congressional Record Vote 434, bill passed 368-48)
- Preventing Oil Price Manipulation: Pete was one of only 72 Representatives who voted against “NOPEC,” an Amendment to the Sherman Anti-Trust Act to insure Oil Companies can not use trusts or cartels to manipulate the price of oil. (HR 2264, Congressional Record Vote 398, bill passed 398-72);
- Protecting the Environment I: Pete was one of only 58 Representatives to vote against the Water Quality Investment Act for sewer overflow grants for local communities (HR 569, Congressional Record Vote 125, bill passed 367-58).
- Protecting the Environment II: Pete was one of only 48 Representatives that voted against the Maritime Pollution Protection Act to stop dumping from ships in American waters (HR 802, Congressional Record Vote 187, bill passed 359-45).
- Protecting the Environment III: Pete was one of only 79 Representatives that voted against the Water Resources Development Act to authorize funds to provide for the conservation of water resources (HR 2864, Congressional Record Vote 447, bill passed 340-79).
The record is clear – Pete Sessions stands against Texas Values and in favor of special interests!
